April 30, 2006 The 2005-2006 Major
Indoor Soccer League season ended when the Baltimore Blast defeated the St. Louis
Steamers on a Golden Goal by Machel Millwood to become MISL Champions for the
third time in four years. Game 2 was played in front of over
16,000 fans in St. Louis and shown live on ESPN2.
The Blast took
Game 1 on Friday in Baltimore, but the Steamers won Game 2 to force the
sudden death Golden Goal series tie-breaker.
The Steamers defeated the Chicago Storm in their
semifinals, while the Blast beat the Milwaukee Wave via Golden
Goal to advance
to the MISL finals.

Unfortunately, the
St. Louis Steamers were
placed on inactive status for the 2006-2007 season.
There was a dispersal draft
and several former key St. Louis Steamer players signed with new
clubs. The
Detroit Ignition
have entered the league as an expansion franchise
for the 2006-2007 season.
